+ System Safety Position

System Safety position located at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Lompoc, CA.  Candidate must have an active security clearance and a minimum of a 4-year technical degree in a related field or 15+ years of experience in a related field. Responsibilities include review and oversight of hazardous procedures, movement of large rocket motors, OSHA inspections, familiarity of range safety requirements. Ability to support temporary activities at locations around the country. Prefer a candidate with knowledge of MDA and GBI activities and components.

+ S-MASS II Mission Assurance Engineer

Department: Kennedy Space Center Launch Services Program (SA-D)

Full-time: 40 hrs/ week

Education: BS Engineering or Science field (Mechanical / Aerospace preference)
Experience: 10 years in aerospace, engineering practices.
Salary Range: $85K- 100K annually

Task Description
Position for a Mechanical Engineer on KSC Safety and Mission Assurance Support Services II (SMASS II) contract. Position is for Mission Assurance Engineer to perform independent analyses and technical assessments required to support NASA KSC SMA Launch Services Program. Tasks include identifying, evaluating, and dispositioning technical issues for mission readiness; performing evaluations of watch items for risk impact; supporting engineering review boards, readiness reviews, and technical interchange meetings (TIMs); launch vehicle certification including assessment of qualification and acceptance test procedures; real-time support of launch operations and review of telemetry data.  

Desired experience: 
‘Expendable Launch Vehicle’ experience highly desired; mechanical systems, structures, propulsion and materials; space launch vehicles, systems, subcomponents and presenting/ briefing technical assessments to NASA; flight hardware acceptance/pedigree reviews.

Exceptional verbal and written communications skills required.  Must be able to interact and develop excellent working relationships with various customers, peers, and management within and outside of KSC S&MA.   

US Citizenship: Required; successful completion of government background check before employment; must be able to obtain clearances.

Travel: On-site position may require 25% travel.  


+ THAAD PDSS Lab Manager/System Admin

POSITION: Senior Engineer

Location: Huntsville, AL

Develop and maintain lab environment including reporting, event notifications and actions, software updates, service packs, and patching. Assist in managing and operating an IT infrastructure to include VMware, Servers, NAS devices, Windows, Solaris, Linux, Switches, Routers, Firewalls, and others. Monitor databases and application servers utilization including data storage management, performance metrics and service levels. Ensure all users meet the requisite clearances, authorization, need‐to‐know, and security responsibilities before granting access to the IS.

Create, change, and delete user accounts per request. Ensure log files and audits are maintained and reviewed for all systems and that authentication (for example, password) policies are audited for compliance. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.

Maintain an awareness of trends within the technology industry. Configure and maintain all IS hardware to include servers, workstations, networking equipment.

Manage the purchasing of new and replacement hardware and software.  Perform troubleshooting on all IS systems and networks. Document and maintain lab hardware and software lists, lab network topology diagrams and Ports, Protocols and Services registries. Maintain appropriate DoD 8570 certification and training requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; Experience (4 additional years of degree + defined years’ experience) may be used in lieu of degree.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) Compliance, Risk Management Framework (RMF).

ENTERPRISE MISSION ASSURANCE SUPPORT SERVICE (EMASS) Experience with vulnerability scanning tools (ex. ACAS, Retina, SCAP, etc.).

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Active Top Secret security clearance

+ Intermediate Engineer

POSITION: Senior Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: This position will provide engineering and technical support to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Test directorate. This group will work with the test and evaluation team to monitor preparation of aircraft for laser testing. In addition, this position will support safety reviews, software change requests, test planning and execution activities and be available for some travel. This position requires a current Secret level DoD clearance.

+ Contracts Specialist

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: An experienced individual who will be responsible for the administration of contracts, subcontracts, and task orders from proposal to close-out.


  • Experience administering Federal Government and GSA contracts.
  • Working knowledge of, and experience with FAR. DFAR and other Government regulations.
  • Eight or more years experience administering all types of contracts with DoD/Government agencies.
  • Subcontract experience to include development, negotiation, administration, and closeout of subcontract agreements.
  • Solid working knowledge of federal contracting practices, laws and acquisition regulations.
  • Significant experience in proposal preparation and negotiation.
  • Must work well under pressure and be able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.

Description: Motor Vehicle Mechanic/ Motorized Equipment Specialist: The primary purpose of this position is to provide maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, accountability, and management of various motorized equipment. Additionally, as needed contractor may be required to maintain maritime vehicles and equipment.

Requirements/Qualifications: Perform functional tests, analyze performance and malfunctions, remove, install, test, maintain, modify, perform fault isolation, verify or adjust mechanical assemblies and components. Military or civilian small engine repair/vehicle maintenance background is highly desirable. Knowledge of engine repairs and detailed operating characteristics to include, but not limited to: four-wheel drive and ATV’s as well as motorcycles. Ability to operate ATV and motorcycles, or can be trained to operate. Ability to perform general maintenance, specifically on small gas engines, and diesel engines. In addition, experience with ATV’s using tools and equipment supplied by unit.

Minimum Qualifications: Must have Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification with gasoline and diesel-powered motor vehicles. Must be knowledgeable of gasoline and diesel vehicle preventive maintenance programs. Air Conditioning Certification.

Preferred Qualifications: Former military experience managing a Motor Pool. Motorized Equipment Specialist mandatory skills and experience pertaining motorized equipment. Actual work experience managing mechanical equipment and certified on small gasoline/diesel engine repairs and have experience with the full engine rebuild / process. Contractor shall be physically able to operate ATV’s, UTV’s, and off-road motorcycles and low speed vehicles.

+ Software Airworthiness Personnel

APT is seeking a Software Engineer to support the airworthiness process of the Blackhawk rotary wing aircraft.  Candidate will provide independent software airworthiness assessments of the software development lifecycle artifacts.  Candidate must have knowledge of full lifecycle system and software engineering processes; Experience in software development process for safety and mission critical software components.  Candidate must be proactive and a team player. Ability to work multiple tasks as assigned.  Successful candidate must have excellent communication skills.

Required Skills:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle process.
  • Obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.
  • Travel may be required.

Desired Skills: Potential candidate should be familiar with Civil and Military airworthiness qualification requirements (e.g. DO-178, DO-254, MIL-STD-882, SAE ARP 4754, and SAE 4761) Working knowledge of DOORS and Model Based Development tools are desired.

+ Software Test Engineers

The Apache PPSS project has immediate opening for 2 or 3 Software Test Engineers.

  • The candidate will be performing Software Test and Integration tasks for the Apache helicopter Operational Flight Program.
  • Hands on abilities to work on flight aircraft as well as in a laboratory environment. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to synthesize customer contractual needs & requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. 
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test procedures and test reports.
  • Provide testability analysis of the requirements and an evaluation for completeness of the test program for all levels of testing. 
  • Generate test scripts in support of system integration and performance testing. 
  • Work with software developers as needed to help diagnose and identify the root cause of problems found during software integration. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret.
  • BS Degree in Electrical / Software Engineering plus 7+ years relevant experience.
  • Must be proficiency in C/C++ programming, Ada is a plus.
  • Must be proficiency in scripting languages (such as Perl, bsh/ksh/csh).
  • Must be comfortable working in Windows and Linux/Unix.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as Software Test Engineer.
  • Shall have a full understanding of all aspects of aircraft testing to include requirements definition, instrumentation, data processing, test planning, test conduct and test reporting.

+ Software Safety Engineer

Job description: Participate as a team member of Software Safety team for a critical DoD Weapon System program. As a member of the team work alongside other contractors performing software safety and V&V analysis of requirements, design, code, and testing. Principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist the SED government Lead by providing weekly and periodic status reports and technical reports as requested.
  • Review software requirements, design, and verification analyses, documentation and or models for compliance with software safety qualification standards and requirements.
  • Also review software source code, code generation processes and models, build procedures, etc. for compliance with software safety qualification standards and requirements.
  • Participate in IPTs, software design reviews, code reviews, test plan reviews, test report reviews, and problem report reviews, as requested.

Qualifications, experience or knowledge in the following areas are essential:

  • Software development or V&V analysis experience with safety critical software
  • Ability to express engineering findings orally and in written technical reports
  • Familiarity with software development/lifecycle IEEE 12207, MIL-STD-498, etc.
  • Familiarity with one or more software languages; C, C++, C#, Ada,

Experience or knowledge in the following areas are highly desirable:

  • Familiarity / Experience with performing /evaluating:
    • Government technical reports
    • Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs) (MIL-STD-882E task 208 or ARP 4761
    • PHL, PHA, System and Subsystem Hazard analyses (882E)
    • System safety risk assessments (SSRA)
    • Safety Assessment Reports (SARs)
    • Safety Change Impact Analyses of changes/deviation/waivers
    • Fault Tree Analyses
    • FMEAs
  • Familiarity with the Open Group Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) standard
  • Experience with Model Based Software Development, familiarity with Matlab and Simulink, Rhapsody, DOORS, SCADE, etc.;
  • Familiarity with software development and evaluation tools such as: McCabe, LDRA, Coverity, Klocwork, Polyspace, Understand, etc.;
  • Familiarity with systems engineering development processes;
  • Familiarity with STAMP/STPA;
  • Familiarity with Civil and military airworthiness qualification and Software Safety requirements, such as: DO-178B, JSSSH, DO-278, DO-254, IEC 61508, MIL-STD-882, AMCOM REG 385-17, SAE ARP 4754, and SAE ARP 4761.

Position requires responsible, motivated professional who will be able to work remotely with APT personnel in HSV. Position will coordinate and manage APT activities in the DC area, and must be able to travel locally regularly (and other travel occasionally).
