+ Flight Safety Engineer

  • Overview: Duties include providing program management support in a collaborative project management organization on multiple projects that involve hazardous materials
  • Scope
    • Provide program and project management support on a variety of projects
    • Effort includes managing resources, schedules, financials, subcontractors and personnel
    • Effort includes providing some administrative support to a DOD operations management organization
  • Location: HSV (office at APT)

Position Description

  • Overview: Duties include managing one or more projects involving hazardous materials safety to completion, including managing resources, schedule, financials, subcontractors and personnel
  • Scope
    • Provide project management and technical expertise in support of a variety of projects
    • No hands-on activity with any hazardous materials is anticipated
    • Lead and train more junior personnel
  • Location: HSV (office at APT)
  • Hours: full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Pay rate: TBD
  • Travel: Small amount of domestic travel is anticipated
  • Clearance requirement: No clearance required, but applicant should be able to get one
  • US citizenship requirement: yes
  • Education: a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical field
  • Qualifications
    • At least 5 years of project management experience required
    • Experience in transportation of hazardous materials required
    • Experience with bulk transport of materials preferred
    • Experience working with the Department of Transportation (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) or similar organizations preferred.

+ SMASS III Quality Assurance Specialist

Department: Kennedy Space Center, NASA Exploration Ground Systems (SA-F)
Period:  Starts April 23, 2018
Labor Grade: Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS)
Full-time: 40 hrs/week
Location: KSC
Education: High School
Experience: 4 yrs minimum quality experience, QA practices and quality surveillance practices.

Task Description
Provide support for the SA-F Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) Quality team. Perform quality assurance oversight/insight providing QAS services and support to the EGS program. Specific tasks may include but not limited to:

  • Inspections, surveillance, and requirement compliance while overseeing fabrication, assembly, and test and checkout of aerospace flight hardware
  • Acceptance (procurement) of flight hardware, receiving inspections, and review of acceptance data packs
  • Assess EGS program contract’s QMS system to ensure products/ services are produced per design documentation
  • Execute GSDO-PLN-1231 EGS Quality Assurance Surveillance Plans
  • Identify quality/ safety issues, concerns, and potential risks

Desired Skills/Experience: 

  • Experience in quality assurance processing activities to include hardware and experiment inspections and surveillance
  • QMS audit experience, compliance and requirements assessments
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate/ training
  • KSC Experience desirable

Exceptional verbal and written communications skills required.  Must be able to interact and develop excellent working relationships with various customers, peers, and management within and outside of KSC S&MA.

+ Senior Engineer

Location:  Albuquerque, NM

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: This position will provide engineering and technical support to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Test Directorate. This group will work with the test and evaluation team to monitor preparation of newly acquired aircraft to replace current sensor platform aircraft. In addition, this position will support safety reviews, software change requests, test planning and execution activities and be available for some travel. This position requires a current Secret level DoD clearance.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • In-depth knowledge of aircraft certification for flight
  • Experience with System Safety process and procedures (MIL-STD-882)
  • Knowledge of Software Safety/Assurance
  • Knowledge of airframes and payload integration
  • Knowledge of Air Worthiness activities

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Government Flight Representative (GFR) experience
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance
  • Pilot experience

+ Software Test Engineers

The Apache PPSS project has immediate opening for 2 or 3 Software Test Engineers.

  • The candidate will be performing Software Test and Integration tasks for the Apache helicopter Operational Flight Program.
  • Hands on abilities to work on flight aircraft as well as in a laboratory environment. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to synthesize customer contractual needs & requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. 
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test procedures and test reports.
  • Provide testability analysis of the requirements and an evaluation for completeness of the test program for all levels of testing. 
  • Generate test scripts in support of system integration and performance testing. 
  • Work with software developers as needed to help diagnose and identify the root cause of problems found during software integration. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret.
  • BS Degree in Electrical / Software Engineering plus 7+ years relevant experience.
  • Must be proficiency in C/C++ programming, Ada is a plus.
  • Must be proficiency in scripting languages (such as Perl, bsh/ksh/csh).
  • Must be comfortable working in Windows and Linux/Unix.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as Software Test Engineer.
  • Shall have a full understanding of all aspects of aircraft testing to include requirements definition, instrumentation, data processing, test planning, test conduct and test reporting.
